District of Four Faiths
Four Denominations District is one of the most extraordinary and symbolic places on the city's map. In the immediate vicinity, within a small area between Kazimierza Wielkiego, St. Anthony, Paweł Włodkowic and St. Nicholas Streets, there are places of worship of four different faiths: Catholic, Orthodox, Protestant and Jewish.
They include:
Church of St. Anthony of Padua – a Baroque Roman Catholic church,
Nativity of the Most Holy Mother of God Orthodox Church – an Orthodox church located in a former church building,
Church of Divine Providence – an Evangelical-Augsburg (Lutheran) church,
White Stork Synagogue – one of the most valuable and best-preserved synagogues in Poland.
Although the name "district" is symbolic and not an administrative unit, since 1995 it has been used officially as the designation for this part of the city. It is a space where history, religion and culture meet in an exceptionally harmonious way.
The District of Four Temples today is not only a place of worship but also an important center of cultural and social life. Concerts, exhibitions, interfaith meetings and events promoting dialogue and mutual understanding are organized here. The atmosphere of this place reflects Wrocław's multicultural history – a city that for centuries has brought together various traditions, languages and faiths.
A walk through this part of the city is not only sightseeing but also an experience of the unique atmosphere of openness and coexistence, which has become one of the symbols of contemporary Wrocław.
