Zoo and Afrykarium
Almost 15 million liters of water, more than 7 thousand animals, 19 huge aquariums and pools, and a million visitors in just over half a year since opening – these numbers are not a marketing exaggeration. They show the scale of the undertaking.
Opened at the end of 2014, the Afrykarium is a unique, world-class complex dedicated exclusively to the fauna of Africa. Visitors travel through successive ecosystems – from the Red Sea, through the East African lakes, to the Congo jungle and the coast of the Mozambique Channel. A walk under the glass tunnel, above which sharks and rays swim, is an experience that remains memorable regardless of age.
The Afrykarium is today not only the most popular attraction at the Wrocław zoo, but also one of the most visited paid attractions in Poland. The zoo itself – the oldest and largest in the country – has enjoyed great interest for years. For many people it is an iconic place (it is enough to mention the legendary program „Z kamerą wśród zwierząt”, which made it famous throughout Poland).
A visit to the zoo and the Afrykarium is a proposition for several hours of intense experiences – ideal both for families with children and for adults who want to see the world of wildlife up close. If you are planning a visit, it's worth allowing yourself enough time – this is one of those attractions you don't want to rush through.
